AI voice agents in India: Hindi, English and what they cost
How Indian businesses use AI voice agents to answer calls in Hindi, English and Hinglish, what setup involves, what it costs, and where a person still matters.

Indian businesses get a lot of calls. Customers call to ask a price, check timings, book a visit or chase an order, often in a mix of Hindi and English. An AI voice agent answers those calls at any hour, understands the caller in the language they use, and books, answers or routes the call like a trained front desk.
You can hear one yourself: call our demo receptionist and switch the language to Hindi.
What an AI voice agent does
Answers every call: nights, Sundays, festivals and lunch hours, plus several calls at once.
Books appointments and site visits: it checks your calendar and offers real free slots.
Answers common questions: prices, timings, location, documents needed.
Qualifies leads: for real estate, education and services, it asks your questions and sends the hot leads to your team.
Takes messages and routes calls: billing to accounts, complaints to a manager.
Hindi, English and Hinglish
Modern voice AI handles Hindi and Indian English well, including callers who switch between them mid-sentence. Our demo answers in English, Hindi, Spanish and Arabic, each with a native voice. Support for other Indian languages, such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada or Marathi, varies by provider and voice, so we test your language before quoting.

What it costs
Build: ₹90K, about 2 weeks.
Monthly care: ₹12K a month, from the month it goes live.
Calling and AI usage: paid by you, directly to the providers, based on call volume.
The build covers the agent's knowledge and rules, the voice and language setup, your calendar and phone connection, and testing with real scenarios. The monthly fee covers reviewing calls, fixing wrong answers, updating information and keeping it working as the AI models change. Phone numbers and calling in India
Calls reach the agent through a phone number from a telephony provider. In India this is usually a virtual number from an Indian provider, or call forwarding from your existing number, all the time, after hours or when the line is busy. Outbound calling to customers has extra rules in India, including do-not-disturb and consent requirements, so we usually start with inbound calls.
Data and privacy
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you need to tell callers how their information is used and collect only what you need. We set agents to say they are AI assistants, to collect the minimum details for a booking, and to keep transcripts only as long as you need them for review.
Where a person still matters
An AI agent should not handle medical advice, complaints that need judgement or negotiations. It should hand those to your team. The best setup for most businesses is the agent on after-hours and overflow calls, and your staff on the calls that need a human touch.
Questions people ask
Will callers be comfortable talking to AI?
Most just want a quick answer or a booking. The agent says it is an AI assistant and offers a person whenever someone asks.
Can it understand Indian accents?
Yes. Current speech recognition handles Indian English and Hindi accents well. We test with real callers before launch.
How fast can it go live?
About 2 weeks, including testing. Many businesses start with after-hours calls only, then add more once they trust it.
