Choosing a website design company in Bangalore
What to look for in a Bangalore web design agency, the questions to ask before you sign, what a good website should cost, and the red flags that cost businesses months.

Bangalore has hundreds of web design companies, from one-person studios to agencies with a hundred staff. Prices for what looks like the same website can range from ₹15,000 to ₹15 lakh. This guide helps you tell them apart: what to look for, what to ask, what a fair price looks like, and the warning signs we see when businesses come to us after a bad experience.
We build websites for Bangalore businesses ourselves, so we have an obvious interest. We have tried to write the guide we would want a friend to read before hiring anyone, including us.
Start with what you actually need
Before you contact anyone, write down three things. It will make every quote easier to compare.
The goal. More enquiries, online sales, bookings, or simply looking credible when someone searches your name.
The pages. Most service businesses need 5 to 8: home, services, about, work or case studies, contact, and perhaps a blog.
Who will update it. If you will add blog posts, listings or team members yourself, you need a CMS.
8 things to check before you hire
1. Do they show prices?
An agency that won't give even a starting price until after three calls is usually pricing you, not the project. Look for published starting prices, or at least a clear range in the first conversation.
2. Is the price fixed?
Hourly billing puts all the risk on you. A fixed price for a defined scope, with a written list of what is included, protects both sides.
3. Can you see real, live work?
Ask for links to live sites, not just screenshots. Open them on your phone. Check they load quickly and still work properly.
4. Who will actually do the work?
Some agencies sell with senior people and hand projects to juniors or freelancers. Ask who designs, who builds and who you will talk to every week.
5. Will you own everything?
The domain, hosting account, design files and content should be in your name, or handed over at the end. Never let an agency register your domain in their own account.
6. Is the basic SEO included?
Page titles, descriptions, headings, image descriptions, a sitemap, fast loading and a mobile layout should be part of every build, not an add-on. Our website audit checklist lists what "basic" should mean.
7. What happens after launch?
Ask what support costs, how fast they respond and what counts as a change versus new work. Get it in writing.
8. How do payments work?
A common fair structure is 50% to start and 50% on delivery. Be wary of 100% upfront, and check whether the quote includes 18% GST.
What a website should cost in Bangalore
Prices vary widely, so here are ours as a reference point. They are starting prices, and every quote is fixed before work starts.
Landing page: one custom page, responsive, SEO basics, domain setup. ₹40K, about 1 week.
Business website: 5 to 8 custom pages with a CMS. ₹1.2L, about 3 to 4 weeks.
Shopify store: theme setup and customization, products, payments, shipping. ₹90K, about 2 to 3 weeks.
Brand identity: logo, colour palette, typography and guidelines. ₹75K, about 2 to 3 weeks.
Hosting, domains and paid plugins are separate and paid by you, directly to the provider. For a detailed breakdown, see website development cost in India.
Why some quotes are much cheaper
A ₹15,000 website is usually a template with your logo and text dropped in. That can be fine for a very small business. The trade-offs are speed, a layout that looks like thousands of others, and often a site you can't easily change or move later.
Why some quotes are much higher
Large agencies carry office, sales and account management costs, and a lot of discovery workshops. If you need that level of process, it can be worth it. Most small and medium businesses don't.
Red flags
They want your domain or hosting in their account.
No written scope, just "we'll make it great".
Every sample site is slow or broken on mobile.
Unlimited revisions with no defined process. That usually means nobody is managing the project.
They can't explain how people will find your site on Google.
Local or remote?
Almost all website work now happens online: briefs, design reviews and launch calls run over video and WhatsApp. What matters more than location is that the team understands Indian payment gateways like Razorpay and can bill in rupees with GST. We work fully remotely ourselves, with clients in Bangalore and abroad. Choose for quality and fit first, location second.
Questions people ask
How long does a business website take?
Three to four weeks is typical for 5 to 8 custom pages, if your content is ready. Writing content is the most common cause of delay.
Should I use WordPress, Framer, Webflow or Shopify?
Shopify for online stores. Framer or Webflow for fast, design-led marketing sites you can edit easily. WordPress if you need a specific plugin ecosystem. A good agency will recommend one for your case and explain why.
